About Us: workshops

Intricacies Of Open Adoption is a workshop that is given 4 times per year (October; January; April; July) in Kingston, Ontario for adoptive parents and those hoping to become adoptive parents .Attendance at this workshop is a requirement for those adoptive parents hoping to register with ARCS.
This one-day workshop explores the complexities of open adoption relationships. Misconceptions, misunderstandings, and myths exist about adoptive parents, birth parents and adoptees as well as the open adoption process itself. This workshop offers an opportunity for small group discussion with birth and adoptive parents who are part of an open adoption relationship. This workshop hopes to dispel the myths and to provide an opportunity for adoptive parents to build a positive, less fearful foundation for interaction with members of the adoptee's birth family. Birthparents, adoptive parents and adoptees attend this workshop to help give a complete understanding of open adoption relationships.
